
44 months ago I left my job running marketing for a $112 million a year online business.
My next ‘job’ was helping a lovely lady in Perth who wanted to sell $20k worth of sports clothing..
I used the knowledge from selling over $300m online to make some templates and documents that I shared with her in Google Drive.
I jumped on the phone with her every week.
Then I got a few more clients and did the same thing.
Yesterday I served more clients and delivered more value than probably my first 6 months of helping others.
To say the way I delivered before wasn’t scalable is an under-statement…
If you deliver any type of services you are both the biggest asset and liability.
The asset is your skills, knowledge and experience.
The liability is that there’s only 24 hours in the day and you don’t want to work all of them.
When people ask me what the biggest game changer was for me over the past few years they expect me to say lead generation or the sales explosion.
While those have been essential to success, the biggest game changer has been to build leverage into my delivery.
This enables me to serve more people, at a higher level and get better results for them.
This is exponential. Deliver better results, attract more customers who get better results, who attract more…you get the picture.
By putting your best material into your customers hands and offering them a level of access to help customise it you are enabling them to not only get the result they desire, but let them understand how that result was arrived at and create it for themselves.
To give you a picture of the power that this can create; two dozen of my clients are getting together in Auckland on Friday to meet, network and brainstorm how to make themselves and their businesses better. I won’t even be there but I was the connector that brought them together and gave them a framework.
The essential first step to building leverage into your delivery is to understand that your customers want the RESULT more than they want YOU.
Whether you’re a service provider, consultant, coach or advisor building leverage into your client delivery is essential to not only taking your earnings to the next level, but buying back time and, in some cases, pulling back from the brink of burnout.
If you’ve reached that ceiling where you cant find anymore hours in the day to deliver and your hourly rate is maxed out then….it’s time to change the way you deliver for the better.
