The US Army have got a problem.
They are running out of snipers.
A recent report says the stringent criteria at sniper school is seeing a higher than average drop out rate.
Snipers are an elite group inside the military.
They are trusted to operate on their own for long periods and are supplied with the best of the best gear.
Snipers can sit waiting patiently for their targets for days until the right moment to strike.
They strike with precision and once they’ve hit their target they quietly leave with little fuss.
This contrasts to the regular gunners who are so legion they are simply described as grunts.
They are supplied with weapons that will blow anything up and spray bullets all over the place.
Machine gunners might need to fire hundreds of bullets to hit their target.
A sniper only needs one.
You see the same thing with services and professionals.
Many industries are full of grunts, firing off all over the place trying to hit any target they see.
At the top will be a few snipers.
They are sitting back from the front lines picking off targets of their choice.
Over time they hit more targets and the grunts have melted their barrels and run out of ammo.
The choice whether you want to be a grunt or elite is yours.
Being elite requires another level of training.
Are you ready?
