I used to think it was what I DID that mattered to my clients. At the time I was doing ‘fine’. Paying clients, decent income but my business (and life) lacked something…
I was delivering but, then, so do postmen. They get paid hourly and via a salary. There are only so many hours in the day.
If you’re good those hours are already maxed out.
You deliver but you don’t have an abundance of the scarcest asset on earth.
Time.
Today, I live on the beach on Waiheke Island. Don’t work a full day and wake up every morning with a calendar full of clients keen to work with me.
How was I able to do this?
I made three transformations:
First, I ignored the ‘old way’ of doing things – cold calling, proposals, networking – and adopted the new way. A lead generation system that attracts, captures and qualifies leads in a predictable, scalable way.
Second, I positioned myself as an Authority. People prefer to deal with Authorities.
They will pay more. They will refer more.
I built an ‘Authority Architecture’ that positions me as the default choice for people and businesses in my market. When someone is offered the chance to work with me they jump at the opportunity.
Most professionals and services businesses change their approach to every client. They re-invent the wheel every time they deliver and as they acquire more customers they grow but they just get…busier.
Time is the only truly scarce thing in life.
Your clients want results.
