I want to share a really embarrassing condition I used to have.
You might suffer from it too.
But don’t worry , it’s just you and me here.
Let me paint you a picture.
Relationships always start with a bit of small talk.
Then things go a bit deeper.
You start talking about real stuff
Then you start getting on really well.
You start to realise you might be able to ‘get intimate’ pretty soon.
You ask yourself: Am I reading this right?
But it keeps progressing until you move in to seal the deal..
…and blam.
You make a mess all over the place.
They say it’s ok but then they stop returning your calls or replying to your messages.
The relationship ends before it’s begun.
All because you’re premature.
A Premature Seller.
I used to suffer from premature selling.
I would meet someone and start to build a relationship but then I would sell too early.
Come across as the pushy sales person and scare them off.
You see, people love to buy but they hate to be sold to.
It’s a timing thing. No matter how much someone needs your service and has the ability to pay, the time needs to be right.
That’s why brute force methods will get clients but it’s just luck that you meet someone at a networking event or call them up at the exact time they need what you’re selling.
And it’s also why inbound marketing removes this variable. When people come to you they are signalling that the time is right.
You don’t need to be pushy or ‘salesy’. You just establish two simple things:
Can I help?
Are we a fit?
The sales process takes it’s natural state: two people exchanging value.
If you’ve a string of unreturned messages or ignored proposals then we can help you flip the script.
